We’re thrilled at Ragged Edge 4×4 to be featured in the latest edition of RACV’s Royal Auto Magazine.

“‘Extreme’ can be overused as a term but this madcap activity is truly bizarre. The trucks look like pared-back tractors on steroids – a minimalist aluminium-tube frame on 44-inch tyres powered by a V8 engine producing 240kWchanneled through a simple automatic transmission to an Atlas II transfer case with ‘rear disconnect’ so you can choose four-wheel or front-wheel drive. The differentials are purpose-built with Nissan centres grafted to military truck outers providing four-wheel steering.

Based at Avalon, Ragged Edge 4×4 uses three vehicles for a range of courses…But, unlike other forms of motorised madness, the skill you’ll need more than quick reactions and nerves of steel is co-ordination…Driving these trucks is like standing on your head trying to walk.”

This was the best birthday present to myself! Chris was an absolute professional, incredibly knowledgeable. His 16 years of experience really showed. He was great at teaching me how to drive the buggy and navigate the course. When I was deep in concentration with a serious face, he constantly reminded me to smile and have fun!!! We are planning a bigger day with a bunch of us so we can have 2 or 3 buggies out at once. Already looking forward to the next time!!!

Your passion shines through in the cool course you’ve built and the technical complexity of getting around the course in the vehicle was amazing and hilarious. Like moving a giant gas powered sofa 🤣 Pivot!!

Really fun experience, highly recommend any wives and girlfriends taking your 4WD and car obsessed men in your lives out here to give this a try!!

I have been to this experience twice now and I did all the tracks both times, the night time experience is something I highly recommend more than anything

Once again Chris was the best possible instructor I could have possibly ask for, perfectly balanced professionalism and ability to crack jokes and have fun, I have been able to pick up the ability to drive these cars quite easily due to the way he handles it all.

For anyone wondering if they should try this out, you'd be silly to miss out on something so fun, I can't rate this highly enough with only 5 stars, even travelling about 2 hours to get there I would gladly go even a 3rd and a 4th time hell I wanna go as many times as I physically can.
Cannot wait to get back behind the wheel with Chris giving me fun and challenging lines to conquer and get vertical on.

Craziest awesome shit ever!!!!!

Chris was a bloody amazing bloke. Thank goodness he was patient with instructions, otherwise we wouldhv been there alll day!!

We had the best experience with Chris, it's a very personal one on one experience, even though you get some extreme angles you never feel out of depth or lack of Instruction. It makes you feel very safe and wanting to push it much further than you could ever imagine. If your considering this experience don't over think it. Book it and go. You won't regret it.
