Behind The Scenes: Lowering The Buggies For Better Stability

Slammed

Extreme off-road driving is often misunderstood.

People think it’s all horsepower and aggression.

In reality, the best rock crawlers are built around control.

In 2024 we made one of the biggest handling improvements in years by lowering the buggies approximately three inches. It sounds simple but it was a massive undertaking. The buggies originally had 5″ uptravel so we modified the chassis to get to 10″ uptravel – then lowered the buggy 3″ (so we now had 7″ uptravel not 5″)

The change improved stability enormously.

Lowering the centre of gravity makes the buggy feel calmer and more predictable.
And predictable vehicles build driver confidence.

That confidence allows customers to focus on learning rather than simply surviving.

The goal at Ragged Edge has never been chaos.
It’s capability.

That’s why we continually refine the vehicles.

Customers wanting the full progression experience generally choose the Pro Package, which allows enough time to properly experience the full range of tracks and technical driving concepts. This is where you can really feel the increased capabilities of the buggies.

Located near Geelong in Victoria, Ragged Edge 4×4 continues evolving its vehicles every winter to improve capability, balance and driver confidence.
